Inflammation is the immune's system natural response to protect the body from infection, injury, or disease. There are two types of inflammation: acute and chronic.
Acute inflammation is how your body fights infections and helps speed up the healing process, the most familiar acute inflammation, is the redness, warmth, swelling, and pain around tissues and joints. Chronic inflammation lasts for prolonged periods, where the immune system continues to pump out white blood cells and chemical messengers that prolong the process, and it may end up attacking nearby healthy tissues and organs.
